The 2009 River Festival - Friday 24th and Saturday
25th July
What to expect
On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th
July 2009, the Maidstone River Festival celebrates 30 years
of providing Kent’s largest free family entertainment event
alongside the River Medway and we’re looking to create the
biggest ‘splash’ the River Medway has ever seen by celebrating
our 30th birthday in style.
For the last 30 years the Maidstone River Festival has been pulling in the crowds for a day to remember, gradually growing in size and popularity each year. Today it is a fabulous landmark event that transforms the town centre. From early morning until the last firework cascade just about every demographic will be found strolling through the town and along the banks of the River Medway soaking up the atmosphere of this unique spectacle.
This year we are expecting well in excess of 25,000 people
from Maidstone, Kent and the south east to attend Maidstone
River Festival’s 30th Anniversary.
This special celebration is considered the biggest crowd
pulling event in the south east. Activities and opportunities
include:
- Two live music stages packed with entertainment
- Two dance stages packed with entertainment
- The Amphitheatre Stage
- The spectacular raft race - download
an entry form NEW
- The Forrest Family Fun Fair
- Street Entertainers
- A French Market
- Best dressed boat competition
- The illuminated boat parade
- The spectacular firework finale
Plus since it’s our 30th Birthday, we’re planning on some rather special entertainment.
We can’t say too much about it at the moment, but what we can tell you is that it will be special and entertaining.
You only turn 30 once, and we aim to make it a celebration to remember for all the family! |
